U newyorškom Muzeju moderne umjetnosti održana je svjetska premijera horo komedije Renfield. Vampiri su došli, ali krvi nije bilo, samo puno dobrog veselja, a slavlje su predvodili glavni glumci Nicholas Hoult i Nicolas Cage.
Iako je tepih bio crn, a ne crven, i svi su se divili vampirima, u čuvenom Muzeju moderne umjetnosti (MoMA) u New Yorku sinoć se nisu čuli krici strave, nego uzvici oduševljenja. Naime, na svjetskoj premijeri horor komedije Renfield okupili su se brojni obožavatelji koji su s nestrpljenjem dočekali film o ne toliko vjernom Drakulinom pomoćniku.
Naravno, s posebnim oduševljenjem dočekane su glavne zvijezde filma Nicholas Hoult i Nicolas Cage. Prigodno su uskladili svoju odjeću. Hoult, pozitivac u filmu, došao je odjeven u svijetlo, dok je Cage, koji glumi Drakulu, odabrao tamno odijelo. No, zle krvi među njima nije bilo, već samo zagrljaja i osmijeha. Zapravo, što je čudno za priču o Drakuli, krvi uopće nije ni bilo.
Renfield – Drakulin pomoćnik
Na temelju ideje tvorca stripa i serije Živi mrtvaci Roberta Kirkmana, Renfielda je režirao Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War, 2021., Lego Batman film, 2017.) prema scenariju Ryana Ridleya (Rick i Morty, 2013. Na paranormalnom zadatku, 2017.). U romanu Drakula Brama Stokera, R.M. Renfield je bio zatvorenik u ludnici za kojeg se mislilo da pati od iluzija i priviđanja, ali on je zapravo Drakulin sluga.

U ovom filmu Renfield je stoljećima služio grofu krvopiji, no dosadio mu je biti Drakulin potrčko. Tako da sluga grofa Drakule pronalazi novi život u modernom New Orleansu nakon što se zaljubi u Rebeccu Quincy, živahnu, ali vječno agresivnu prometnu policajku.
Impresivna filmografija
Renfielda u filmu tumači Nicholas Hoult. Britanski glumac iza sebe već ima impresivnu filmografiju – od dječačkog nastupa u komediji Sve o jednom dječaku preko filmova Miljenica i Tolkien pa sve do sjajne serije Velika i nedavnog hita Meni. Kao Reinfeld Hoult je vrlo uvjerljiv. Dojmljivo portretira čovjeka na životnoj prekretnici, sa svim nesigurnostima i tjeskobama, ali isto zna biti okrutan i odlučan, baš kao što i treba biti čovjek koji je stoljećima hranio najveće zlo.
